Length: 5 videos, 3-5 minutes long each
For many courses at Birmingham City University's, candidates are asked to create a portfolio as part of their application. The University reached out to us to create a series of videos that would give some guidance to prospective students on what these portfolios consist of and how they can make theirs as strong as possible.
We visited the different departments within BCU's School of Communications where portfolios are required as part of the application process and interviewed the tutors there about what they look for. We spoke to the staff about the kind of questions prospective students frequently ask, and ensured that these topics were covered in the videos to make them as helpful and targetted as possible. We then talked with current students at the University to learn more about how they created successful portfolios, and what they felt their purpose was as a part of applying. We also intercut some shots of portfolio pages from current students, to help illustrate what their tutors were describing and offer some examples to students who might be in need of some visual guidance.
